twin-towersOdisha Channel Bureau Puri, Sep 11: Well-known sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture of the twin towers of the World Trade Center on Puri beach in Eastern Indian State of Odisha as tributes to the victims of the September 11 attacks.Pattnaik created a five feet high replica of the twin towers on a big numeric nine and the towers appearing like number eleven.He used five tonnes of sand to make the sculpture in about seven hours.The sculpture carried the message of ‘No terror, but peace’.I always condemned the terrorist attack through my sculptures, Pattnaik said.“We are very saddened by the loss of innocent lives in the US attack.Thus we have recreated the miniature model of the twin towers on sand to pay tribute to the victims of the September 9/11 victims,” he said.“The model recreated by me gives the message that life never stops.No matter how much militants attempt to stall life, but life never stops,” he added.Padma awardee Pattnaik has participated in more than 50 international sand sculpture championships and festivals around the world and won prizes for the country.Pattnaik always tries to give peace messages through his sand art.
