Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: It’s official now.Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh, widow of the late Hemendra Chandra Singh, will be the Biju Janata Dal nominee in the Kandhamal by-poll.This was announced by Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Nivas in the presence of Singh and many other leaders of the party.“The wife of late Hemendra Singh, who was Member of Parliament from Kandhamal constituency, Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh has been chosen as the candidate for the Kandhamal bye-election,” Patnaik said.“I thank Naveenji for choosing me as the party candidate, I will serve the people of Kandhamal and fulfill my husband’s dreams,” Singh said.The by-election was necessitated following the death of Hemendra Singh on September 5.Bharatiya Janata Party has already named former BJD MP Rudra Madhab Ray as its nominee for the by-poll.He will file his nomination papers on September 26, the last date of filing of papers.Congress was yet to name its candidate.The party is likely to announce the name of its nominee on Wednesday.
