nachika-lingaOdisha Channel Bureau Koraput, Oct 29: Well-known tribal leader and head of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) Nachika Linga, who surrendered before Odisha police in Koraput district on Tuesday, was produced before the local court on Wednesday.Linga, who had surrendered after remaining underground for more than four years, was remanded to judicial custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Laxmipur.The court also remanded to judicial custody four associates of Linga – Sekru Sirika, Arsu Wadeka, Kandru Huluka and Birsu Wadeka – who had also surrendered before the police along with the CMAS leader.As many as 33 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) were issued against Linga in nearly 43 cases registered in various police stations in Koraput district.All five were then sent to Laxmipur jail.Linga was in the `most wanted’ list of Odisha police for his alleged involvement in the long-drawn agitation of tribals of Narayanpatna for land rights in Koraput district of the State.According to CMAS sources, Linga is likely to fight his cases to prove himself not guilty in the cases pending against him in order to continue with his agitation to secure land rights for the tribals of Narayanpatna area of the district.
