pradip-amatOdisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Odisha Finance Minister Pradeep Amat presented a supplementary budget of Rs.4502.34 crore in the State Assembly on Thursday afternoon even as the opposition legislators continued their slogan shouting over alleged involvement of ruling Biju Janata Dal leaders in the mega chit fund scam. The proceedings of the House were adjourned till Friday after Amat presented the supplementary budget for the year 2014-15 amid chaos in the House. The budget proposals include allocation of Rs.300 crore as corpus fund from which the State government intends to pay back money to the poor investors who were duped by various chit fund companies. As Amat presented the supplementary budget proposals, a group of BJP legislators staged a dharna on the floor of the House in protest against an indecent remark reported to have been made by Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy towards Radharani Panda, a woman legislator of BJP.Maharathy reportedly made the remark in the House earlier in the day when Speaker Niranjan Pujari had already adjourned the house till 3 pm after Congress and BJP legislators created noisy scenes over the chit fund scam. After Panda filed a complaint, the Speaker convened an all party meeting over the issue. The meeting, however, failed to resolve the matter.
