maoistsOdisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Mar 7: Nine armed Maoists of the Koraput Division of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) surrendered before the police at Koraput today.According to the police, the nine persons, all belonging to Narayanpatna area of Koraput district were active members of the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh and later joined the naxal organisation.“Their role is suspected in abetment of Maoist crimes in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon area,” police claimed.“They surrender as they were disillusioned by the anti-tribal and anti-development activities of naxalite leaders.They also realised the futility of armed struggle and decided to join mainstream,” police added.
