Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced hikes in the incomes of the Anganwadi workers of Odisha on Saturday.

Patnaik announced the hikes accepting the long-term demand of thousands of Anganwadi workers who had been agitating on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg of the capital city demanding better remuneration.

Announcing the package for the welfare of the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers, Patnaik said that the Anganwadi workers will now get Rs. 7,500 per month as against Rs. 6,000 they were getting.

The Mini Anganwadi workers will now get Rs. 5,375 per month as against Rs. 4,125 they were getting, the Chief Minister said.

The Anganwadi helpers will now get Rs. 3,750 per month as against Rs. 3,000.

Patnaik also announced increase in the age of disengagement of the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers from 60 years to 62 years.

At the time of exit at the age of 62 years, the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers will be given a lump sum incentive of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively as a measure of social security, he said.

The Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers will also be entitled for a vacation of 15 days annually during peak summer.
