naveen-patnaikOdisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 19: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced an assistance of Rs.1 lakh for the Malkangiri schoolboy B.Yakub, who lost his right palm one of his hands in an accident while he was working.Yakub, a Class-IX student, met with the accident while working under a Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) project due to poverty.Yakub had gone to work on holidays as his father was unable to afford his school uniform.The accident occurred when Yakub came in contact with a live electric wire while measuring a part of the road that was being constructed with funds from the PMGSYThe ex-gratia amount or Rs.1 lakh will be given to Yakub from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.While expressing concern over the incident, the Chief Minister has wished speedy recovery of Yakub who was undergoing treatment in Visakhapatnam.
