153th birth anniversary of Swabhaba Kabi observed

Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: The 153th birth anniversary of Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher was celebrated in pump and show at Nalco Square here on Sunday in the joint collaboration of Gangadhar Meher Jayanti Committee, Gangadhar Meher Pratisthan, Utkal Sammilani, International Theatre, Paschim Odisha Agrani Sangathan and Bhubaneswar Bhulia Samaj.Joining as chief guest Minister for Tourism & Culture Ashok Panda offered floral tributes at the statue of Gangadhar Meher and lighted the scared lamp to mark the occasion.In his address, Panda remembered with all honour the contribution of Gangadhar Meher, Pathani Samanta and Bhima Bhoi to the society in this occasion.Citing the great contribution of Gangadhar Meher in the formation of Odisha Pradesh which was only possible for the successful Bhasa Andolan due to his keen involvement, Panda also urged to the gathering to pay more attention in the development of own Matrubhasa which is the all way towards the building of a better society.Joining as guest of honour local legislator Priyadarshi Mishra and Secretary, Department of Tourism & Culture Arvind Padhee assured to provide all sort of help and cooperation from the government for the enrichment of this great culture and preserve the memory of the this great sons of the soil.A large number of other dignitaries also paid tributes to the Swavava Kabi on the occasion.
