Odisha Channel Bureau Jajpur, June 24: A case has been registered against a youth here for having sex with a local girl on the false promise of marriage, shooting a video and threatening to post the footage on the internet when she refused to succumb to his blackmail.The accused has been identified as Bubuna Rout of Badamangalpur-Naupal.Police have registered case against three accomplices of the accused, identified as Bapuna Mohanty, Madhusudan Rout and brother of the main accused for shooting a video during sex, circulating the video and blackmailing the victim and her family.No arrest has been made so far.Though the matter was reported to the local police about two weeks ago, they sat over the complaint and did nothing.When the matter was reported to the District Superintendent of police, he directed a senior police official to get the case registered.According to the FIR filed with Dharmasala police by the mother of the victim, accused Bubuna was having one-sided love with her 20-year-old daughter and he was insisting her to marry.The accused was coming to their house and threatening her daughter many times that he would kidnap her if she refused to marry him.After that she informed it to the father of the accused.“When I brought the matter to the notice of the father of the accused, he assured me that he would arrange marriage between his son and my daughter.After that the accused started coming to our house more frequently and met my daughter openly.We were also treating the accused as a prospective groom,” said mother of the victim.“Once he took my daughter for outing.He made physical relationship with her and during her intimacy he made video recording of all the activities without her knowledge,” she said in her FIR.After keeping physical relationship with my daughter for couple of months on promises of marriage, the accused got married to another girl of the neighbouring village leaving my daughter in lurch, she added.“When my daughter came to know about the marriage of her lover, she immediately talked to him over phone.In return, the accused threatened her that he would make the video public if she insisted him for marriage further,” she said.When the victim’s family went to the house of the accused as why he married another girl after having a relationship with their daughter on promise of marriage, the accused accompanied with his family members assaulted the former.On the contrary, the accused threatened the girl’s family members to post the video footage of their daughter on the internet if we did not shell out Rs.20,000 to him.“We gave him Rs.20,000 to the accused and after getting the money he demanded Rs.1 lakh more,” she said, adding that they were receiving constant threatening calls from both the accused and his accomplices.All the accused were allegedly claiming to have the video footage with them and demanding money from the victim family.When, the victim family could not pay Rs.1 lakh to the accused, they circulated the video footage.One of the relative of the victim managed to collect the video footage from a local cyber café.Finding no way out, the victim’s mother rushed to the local police station at Dharmasala.“I went to the police station along my daughter on June 6 and lodged an FIR with the police.I also gave the video recording shot by the accused, to the police.Police did nothing for the last two weeks,” said mother of the victim.Then the mother of the victim brought these things to the notice of the district Superintendent of Police, Deepak Kumar on June 20.“We have registered a case under Sections 417, 493, 384, 292, 294, 323, 354, 506 and 34 of IPC and 66, 67 and 67(A) of IT Act 2000 against four persons.We will arrest all the accused soon,” said Kumar.When asked as why the registration of the case was delayed, the SP said that the matter was being investigated and assured action against the erring officials.
