Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: Odisha Government on Saturday announced that it will soon have a new Department for the people with disabilities.The new Department, to be named Department of Welfare, will also deal with the issues relating to senior citizens and old age pensions.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered the creation of the Department while chairing a high level meeting to review the implementation of various schemes for the welfare of the people with disabilities.The tasks of the new Department will be separated from the State Government’s Women and Child Welfare Department. The meeting also decided for establishment of District Disability Rehabilitation Centre in each district of the State.The people with disabilities will be provided the facility of corrective surgery at those Centres.The meeting also decided that a new industrial training institute will be established at Jatni to impart technical training to the people with disability.
