Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 13: Population First, a leading organisation of the country working towards reduction of gender disparity, has invited entries for the Sixth Laadli Media and Advertising Awards-2014 for gender sensitivity for the eastern region.The award seeks to acknowledge, highlight and celebrate commendable efforts undertaken by the media – print, radio, web and television – and advertising agencies to promote gender sensitivity through their work.Population First has invited entries from media professionals/freelancers from the media and advertising world based in the eastern region, which comprises the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal.The entries should analyze policies, programmes and laws from a gender perspective; highlight influence of gender perceptions in the functioning of the administration, police and judiciary; challenge gender stereotypes; analyse social, economic and religious factors that promote gender inequality and violence; report on current events from a gender perspective; create awareness about pre-birth sex selection or voice the experience of survivors of gender violence.The entries can be news reports, features/articles, editorials, op-eds, investigative reports, columns and campaigns from the print or electronic medium, radio plays or ads and jingles from advertising agencies and professionals.The entries should have been published/broadcast between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.The last date for receipt of entries is October 31, 2014.The winners will be chosen by a jury comprising eminent personalities from the media and the social sector.The awards ceremony for the eastern region will take place in Guwahati.Entries can be in English, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Hindi or Urdu.Entries in Hindi, Urdu and Odia may be sent to Sandeep Sahu, C/2, Lingaraj Vihar , Bhubaneswar – 751020 while English and Assamese entries may be sent to Partha Prawal Goswami, C/O, Aanjali Devi, RG Barua Road, Bylane, Swahid Dilip Chakravorty Path, House No 1, Guwahati – 781005.Bengali entries may be sent to Population First, Shetty House, 3rd Floor, 101, MG Road, Mumbai – 400001.For any queries relating to the entries, participants can contact Sandeep Sahu at 09937228122 (Mob) or sandeepsahu2005@gmail.com.
