Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: Odia film actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty is all set to become a Rajya Sabha Member representing his party, the Biju Janata Dal.Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal president Naveen Patnaik told presspersons here on Thursday that Mohanty will be the official candidate of the ruling party for the lone Rajya Sabha seat election for which was scheduled to be held on June 19.While denying Mohanty a party ticket to contest the recently held general elections, Patnaik had announced the actor-turned political will be BJD’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha in the future.The Rajya Sabha seat for which election will be held had fallen vacant after A.U.Singh Deo was asked to vacate the seat and contest the Assembly polls from Balangir.Singh Deo had resigned from the Rajya Sabha a few days after his election to the Upper House as he was also a Member of the State Assembly then.Singh Deo, however, failed to win the Assembly election too, thereby losing a chance to become a Member in the Rajya Sabha as well as the State Assembly.
