Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 17: Government of Odisha on Thursday decided to send a two-member team of coaches to Bangalore to talk to the officials of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) about non-inclusion of professional sprinter Dutee Chand in the Indian athletics team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The sprinter who hails from Odisha had reportedly failed the test that was conducted to check the level of androgen in her body and SAI had concluded that she will not be allowed to compete in the female category. The test in her body had shown that Dutee had excess androgen in her body and was therefore not eligible to compete in the female category.Glasgow Commonwealth Games was scheduled to be held next week.SAI had conducted the test following regulations set by international sport organisations for governing eligibility of females with hyperandrogenism to compete in the women’s competition.According to sources, Dutee may not be able to participate in the Asian Games later this year. The sprinter from Odisha’s Jajpur district had qualified for the Commonwealth Games after winning the 200m and the 4x100m relay at a national championship.Meanwhile, Dutee told an Odia television channel that she was hopeful of clearing such tests in future to be able to participate in the other games in the future.
