Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: For the seventh year, Jindal Foundation has provided textbook and study material sets to school going children of jail inmates across 55 jails of Odisha.In the concluding event held at Circle Jail at Choudwar on Wednesday, Laxmidhar Mohanty, Additional District Magistrate, Cuttack handed over the textbook sets to 65 jail inmates.The program, implemented in partnership with John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services, was inaugurated on August 7 and after covering 54 jails the valedictory program was organised on Wednesday.Speaking on the occasion, Mohanty expressed his contentment for the admirable effort taken up by Jindal Foundation and John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services in shaping the life of children of jail Inmates through support of light of education and suggest that this noble program should go on to reach the life of many others.As chief patron of the programme, Prashant Kumar Hota, State Head (Corporate Communication) of JSPL said “Education is one of the priority areas in our Chairman Naveen Jindal’s social mission”.The chairperson of Jindal Foundation Shallu Jindal has equal passion for inclusive education, he said.He thanked the district administration, jail department for associating JSPL in this noble venture.Expressing happiness over getting textbooks for their children, the jail inmates thanked the JSPL and John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services.Jail Senior Superintendent Niranjan Das welcomed the guests at the programme.P.K.Choudhury of John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services presented the introductory speech.Since 2008, JSPL is supporting this programme, in association with John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services, to provide text books to children of jail inmates. It has provided more than 10424 text book sets to the children of jail inmates.
