Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal legislator from Baripada Sananda Marandi elected as the Deputy Speaker of the new Odisha Assembly on Monday.He was elected by a voice vote in the State Assembly.Marandi, who held the same position for over two years in the previous Assembly, filed his nomination papers for the post on Friday.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had proposed Marandi’s name for the post.The proposal had been seconded by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha.Marandi was first elected to the Assembly from Kuliana Assembly segment as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in 2004.He was elected to the Assembly for the second term as a BJD candidate from Baripada seat in 2009.The tribal leader was again elected from Baripada as a BJD nominee in the election held in April this year.
