Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: The three-day-long Odissi Music Festival-2015 will kick off at Rabindra Mandap of the city on Thursday (January 8).Many well-known artists of the State and artists from different institutions will perform live during the three-day festival which is likely to draw a large number of Odissi music lovers.The Odissi Music Festival started in 2012 by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre with a view to bringing Odissi music artists from across the country to a single platform to assess their performances from different perspectives such as style, technique and music used in Odissi music.This festival, being organised in association of Department of Tourism & Culture, Government of Odisha, also helps to enrich their presentation of Odissi music with all its aesthetics, purity and classicism.Young and talented singers along with the legendary and established singers are also encouraged in this festival.Moreover, this festival infuses a spirit of cultural amity and gives opportunity to the connoisseurs not only from Bhubaneswar but from outside the State and country to experience the beauty and grace of Odissi music by music lovers from across the country.The 4th edition of the Odissi Music Festival will feature as many as 50 participants which consists of group vocal, solo vocal and instrumental.Apart from groups from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Utkal University of Culture and Kala Vikas Kendra, the Odissi songs that traditionally depict the love and frolics of Radha and Krishna artist who will be rendered by artists including Arati Mishra, Achyuta Maharana, Laxmipriya Nayak, Mahaprasad Kar, Agnimitra Behera and Jabahar Mishra on the first evening.The second evening of the festival will have Shyamamani Devi, Lata Ghosh, Rasha Bihari Nath, Raghunath Patro and Shantilata Chhotaray, and the third and last evening will feature Arjun Charan Samal, Sukanta Kumar Kundu, Sursarita Rout, Pratimarani Panda and Satchidananda Das.
