Odisha Channel Bureau Angul, Aug 4: Panic gripped the people of Talcher town in Odisha’s Angul district following earth subsidence of a well size near Sai Mandir on Monday.However, there was no casualty and no one was injured due to the mishap.Police immediately cordoned off the area and colliery authorities were called in.They undertook the works of filling sands into the big hole.Talcher Sib-Collector Saroj Kumar Samal who rushed to the spot said “I checked with the coal authorities who said that there was an incline there because of the underground colliery named Deulbera.That has subsided and needful is being done.However, I have asked mining department to conduct a probe into the incident.”The incident has put a question mark on the safety of the local people who reside on dead underground Deulbera colliery where no proper sand filling was undertaken in the past.
