Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, Odisha Cabinet today decided to relax the upper age limit rules for recruitment of eligible unemployed youths in state government jobs for a period of three years.
As per the decision, the maximum age limit for recruitment in state government jobs will be increased from 32 years to 38 years for 2021, 2022 and 2023 for general category candidates, said Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra after the Cabinet meeting.
The women candidates and the candidates belonging to schedules castes, scheduled tribes and social and educationally backward classes can now appear in the examinations for government jobs up to the age of 43 years.
Those with disabilities were given more relaxation in age limit, Mahapatra informed.
The Cabinet meeting which was presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik passed 12 decisions including the one relating to change the upper age limit rules.
Mahapatra said that the decision will help the candidates whose competitive examinations for state government jobs were getting delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
