Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that the COVID-19 situation is now completely under control in the state and appealed all to follow the COVID protocol.
“We can deal with the situation without affecting livelihood with the cooperation of people,” said Patnaik after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in Odisha on January 18.
The Chief Minister urged all to be very careful and prepared though there is a dip in number of active cases in major cities.
Patnaik suggested expediting vaccination and providing booster dose to medical staff, police, and administrative officials, citizens at high risk of disease and media persons.
He stressed on spreading awareness, proper adherence of rules, and continuation of micro containment strategy and regular monitoring of patients in home isolation.
The officials who participated in the review meeting informed that there is adequate number of beds, medicine and oxygen cylinders available in the state.
Meanwhile, a total of 11,607 new COVID-19 positive cases reported on January 18, the state government said on January 19.
While Khordha district reported 4,347 cases, Sundargarh reported the second highest number of 1,219 cases followed by Cuttack with 898 cases.
The third wave of COVID-19 had hit Odisha since January 1 this year with cases showing a sharp increase by the day. Only 298 confirmed cases were reported on January 1.
