CONCOR joins Odisha rail project

Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: A very important and strategic development has taken place in Odisha’s railway infrastructure planning and development.Container Corporation of India Ltd.(CONCOR) will now participate in the Angul-Sukinda railway line, a crucial railway project of Odisha.Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), a Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking of Government of India has become a stake-holder in the Angul-Sukinda new rail line project by making 26% equity shares investment in Angul-Sukinda Railway Ltd.(ASRL).Angul-Sukinda new rail line is being constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model for providing a vital alternative rail-link to the Angul based steel plants with the Keonjhar-Bansapani Iron-Ore belt and Talcher Coalfield to Kalinga Nagar Industrial belt.Besides CONCOR, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd of Railways, Odisha Government, Odisha Mining Corporation, JSPL and IDCO are the other stake holders of this Joint-Venture Company, according to a press release.Anil Kumar Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of CONCOR handed over the consent letter for releasing Rs.100 crores out of their total equity amount of Rs.156 crores to Dilip Kumar Samantaray, Managing Director of Angul-Sukinda Railway Ltd.at New Delhi on November 3.Gupta has stated that their decision to participate in this new Rail-Line is primarily to promote the development of rail infrastructure and logistic in the State of Odisha.In this process, CONCOR is also developing two Multi Modal Logistic Parks (MMLPs) at Parjang and Duburi stations of this new rail-line for expanding container traffic in the state.Chief Secretary of Odisha G.C.Pati has also assured all possible assistance in the land acquisition process for these two depots of CONCOR from the State government side.Angul-Sukinda rail line authorities have stated that after this agricultural cultivation season period, work for this new Rail-Line will commence in full-swing as the State Government has arranged the required entire Private and Government land for the project.It is expected that this new rail line will be completed by June, 2018.
