Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 15: National Aluminium Co.Ltd.(NALCO), the Navratna PSU and India’s leading manufacturer exporters of aluminium has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Rare Earths Ltd (IREL), a Government of India Undertaking under Department of Atomic Energy for jointly establishing a Titanium Slag Plant of 1 lakh tonne capacity at Odisha Sand Complex, at Chatrapur.Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO and R.N.Patra, CMD of IREL, signed the MoU at Mumbai on Monday in the presence of senior officials of both the companies.It may be mentioned that the project is contemplated in joint venture mode for which feasibility study & technology selection would be carried out very soon.The project envisages value addition to ilmenite to produce Titanium Slag which is an intermediate product for making titanium sponge and titanium pigments.
