Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 25: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party leader K.V.Singh Deo alleged that the arrest of Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda had been stage-managed, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik countered the charge in the State Assembly on Friday.“We do not believe in stage managing things or drama,” Patnaik said while making a statement during discussion of demand of grants relating to the Home and General Administration Departments.“People of our State know the commitment and sincerity with which my Government deals with issues concerning the State, including Left Wing Extremism,” Patnaik observed.“It is because of the sustained, intelligent hard work along with valour and sacrifice of Odisha Police that today Sabyasachi Panda is behind bars,” he added.“Let us not belittle the sacrifice of security personnel who have lost their lives in our fight against Left Wing Extremism for narrow political ends,” the Chief Minister said.“I can also tell those who like to politicize these sensitive issues that people of Odisha know very well as to who is doing what and with all humility, I would like to say that people have been repeatedly blessing our Government because “We believe more in deeds than in words”.We believe in sincere, committed hard work than in doing drama for narrow political ends,” Patnaik observed.“We would always welcome constructive criticism and use the same for the welfare of people and our State,” he added.Singh Deo had on Thursday claimed that the arrest of top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda was stage managed. The Maoist leader was already with the police before the date on which the arrest was claimed to have been made, Singh Deo had said at a press conference. He had further alleged that whenever the Assembly was in session, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik organised such drama with the sole motive to divert people’s attention from burning issues.“Such stage-managed incidents include surfacing of a snake in the Assembly; abduction of District Collector Vineel Krishna by Maoists; abduction of foreign nationals by Maoists; and now arrest of Sabyasachi Panda.” Singh Deo had told journalists at the BJP State headquarters here.
