Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: A House Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Tuesday decided to draw attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss about the Polavaram project.The Committee, comprising members from different political parties and headed by Speaker Niranjan Pujari, took the decision to meet the Prime Minister and submit a memorandum on the Polavaram issue in its first meeting held at the State Assembly premises.A Biju Janata Dal legislator who attended the Committee meeting told journalists that the memorandum to the submitted to the Prime Minister would highlight Odisha’s concern over the possibility of the Polavaram project causing inundation in vast areas in Malkangiri district of the State.The legislators of the ruling BJD had recently opposed the Polavaram project both inside the State Assembly and outside when a Bill pertaining to the project was passed in Parliament.The BJD legislators had also walked down to Raj Bhavan here and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President to Governor S.C.Jamir.
