Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 4: A book titled `State Initiatives to Meet the Developmental Challenges’ was released by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Thursday.Several dignitaries including the Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat, Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati, Development Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi and Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department Upendra Nath Behera, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of different departments were present in the book release ceremony.While Behera in his introductory remark gave a brief outline of the publication, Amat highlighted the usefulness of the compilation for various national and international agencies to have a better understanding of the development initiatives taken by State Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister.`State Initiatives to Meet the Developmental Challenges’ is a compilation of 25 flagship schemes initiated by Government of Odisha.The publication brings out the objectives, outreach and impact of the schemes like Mamata, Jalanidhi, Mo-Kudia, Madhubabu Pension Yojana, State Highway Development Programme, Biju KBK Yojana, Jeebika, Mission Shaktl, Mo-Masari, Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana etc.It also highlights other important information like the implementation process, key beneficiaries and eligibility criteria for availing the benefits of the schemes.The schemes include welfare programmes enabling the citizens to fulfill their rights to livelihoods, education and healthcare and positive interventions to improve agricultural productivity, some others have been contributing to the strengthening of infrastructure base and provision of Social security to disadvantages sections of people.The publication will serve as a handbook for development planners, practitioners and members of civil society.It is joint endeavour of the Programme Performance and Outcome Monitoring Unit (PPOMU) of Finance Department and other Departments entrusted with implementation of the Schemes.Soft copy of the compendium can be accessed from the web site of Finance Department: http://www.odisha.gov.in/finance/pdf/2014/State_Initiatives.pdf
