Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Capital city Bhubaneswar recorded the highest ever maximum day temperature of 45.8 degrees Celsius as an intense heatwave continued to sweep the State on Monday.It is said that no other place in the country has recorded 45.8 degrees Celsius this summer so far.It turned out one of the hottest days in Odisha in the recent history on Monday.As Bhubaneswar recorded 45.8 degrees Celsius, Chandabali recorded 44.4, Talcher 43.8, Sundargarh 43.5, Jharsuguda 43.4, Balangir 43.2, Hirakur 42.9, Bhawanipatna 42.7, Baripada 42.5, Cuttack 42.5, Malkangiri 42.4, Titilagarh 42.3, Angul 42.1, Baleswar 41.0 and Phulbani 40.One death due to sun stroke was reported from Angul district as the maximum day temperature remained over 40 degrees Celsius in several districts of Odisha.The heatwave has claimed over 25 lives so far, according to official sources in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.The Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar has predicted that the heatwave condition will continue to prevail for several days.Last time, Bhubaneswar had recorded the highest temperature of 45 degrees Celsius was on April 23, 1985.The Capital city had on Sunday recorded a temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius, the highest since 2010.The streets wore a deserted look as many people stayed indoors to save themselves from the scorching heat.
