Odisha Channel Bureau Paradip, June 30: Export of steel coils through Paradip Port began to mark a new phase with the starting of shipment of the steel coils of Bhushan Steels Limited.Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust inaugurated the maiden loading of 6400 metric tonnes consignment of steel coils into the vessel M.V.Dahitul Kalbi berthed at Central Quay–II on Sunday evening.The steel coils are being exported to Togo.While inaugurating the first shipment of steel coils, Mishra said that Paradip Port has made adequate arrangements to facilitate export of steel products of steel industries located in the hinterland and for which concrete plot and connectivity is available.“We are interested to promote export of steel products in a great way through Paradip Port.We are intending to diversify our cargo profile,” he added.Since Paradip Port is nearer to the Steel plants situated in the hinterland, transportation cost and time will be less compared to other ports.By this, the traffic of the Port will grow and foreign exchange reserve will also be increased.
