Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to report a trend of steadily declining active COVID-19 cases, according to State Health and Family Welfare Department data.
The State had the highest number of 35,039 active COVID-19 cases on September 26. The number of such cases decreased and stood at 22,304 on October 19 morning.
The detection of new COVID-19 positive cases too has started declining steadily in all parts of the State, according to official data.
The highest of 4,356 new positive cases were detected on September 25. The number of cases being reported also declined continued to decline with occasional spike.
The decline in detection of new COVID-19 cases became evident when a total of 1,992 new cases were detected in past 24 hours ending at October 18 midnight, officials said on October 19.
The total number of deaths, however, continues to increase as more people are dying of COVID-19 every day.
The number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased to 1,152 with 17 persons succumbing to the disease during the past 24 hours, the officials announced on October 19. Besides, 53 infected persons had died due to other ailments.
The State has so far conducted 40,82,603 tests and 2,70,346 of them had been found positive for coronavirus infection.
Of the total people found COVID-19 positive, 2,46,837 persons had recovered till October 19, while 22,304 persons were undergoing treatment, according to officials.
Meanwhile, the State government continues caution people to follow COVID-19 protocols to contain the pandemic.
