Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the District Collectors to be in regular touch with the organisations run by the Missionaries of Charity in Odisha.
Patnaik directed the Collectors to ensure that no inmate of these organisations suffer, especially from food security and health related distress.
“Wherever needed, funds from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund can be utilised for this purpose,” the Chief Minister said on December 30.
The Missionaries of Charity runs many leprosy homes and orphanages in different parts of Odisha, including a leprosy home near Bhubaneswar.
The Union Home Ministry had earlier this week refused to renew the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of the Missionaries of Charity established by Nobel laureate Mother Teresa, stating that it did not meet eligibility conditions.
The FCRA registration is mandatory for any non-governmental organisation or association to receive foreign funds or donations.
