AES named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: The AES Corporation, headquartered in Arlington in the state of Virginia in the USA, has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America and ranked in the top quartile among all electric utilities assessed by RobecoSAM.Each year more than 3,000 companies are invited to participate in a Corporate Sustainability Assessment carried out by RobecoSam.It may be noted here that, AES became a strategic partner of Government of Odisha in Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) subsequent to its divestment in 1999.OPGC was one of the earliest successful Public Private Partnerships (PPP’s) in India post economic liberalisation and part of the power sector reforms initiated in the State of Odisha in 90’s.AES is committed to contribute to the development of the power sector in India and is currently pursuing the expansion of OPGC.A Fortune 200 global power company, AES Corporation provides affordable, reliable and sustainable energy in 20 countries through its diverse portfolio of distribution businesses as well as thermal and renewable generation facilities.
