Odisha Channel Bureau Koraput, Jan 24: Central University of Orissa, Koraput is all set to launch 11 Masters programmes and some under-graduate programmes from the upcoming academic year, including its first computer science and management programmes.“We are going to introduce Masters Programme in Fine Arts, Business Administration, Computer Application, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Commerce, History, Political Science, Sanskrit & Hindi and some Under Graduate programmes in professional field from the next academic year,” said Vice-Chancellor of the University Mohammad Miyan.Experts and scholars from all over India will be invited to develop the best curriculum for the above programmes, he added.These new academic programmes are going to be launched with an aim to attract students for need base courses for the requirement of a transforming India in 21st Century.Very soon advertisement will be published in major language newspapers and national newspapers to fill up the teaching positions for the above programmes, the Vice-Chancellor said.The University is also starting Skill Development Programmes under the Centre for Tribal Welfare and Community Development to create a workforce empowered with continuously upgraded skills, knowledge base and nationally recognized qualifications to gain access to decent employment for the youth of the region and tribal youth of KBK in particular.“Engaging youth in productive activities and creation of gainful employment opportunities are highly imperative.So the programme must be an instrument to empower the individual and improve the social acceptance or value of the tribal youth in KBK region,” Prof.Miyan said.Established in 2009, the Central University of Orissa presently offers masters programme in Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources, Journalism & Mass Communication, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, English Language & Literature, Odia Language & Literature, 5 years integrated Mathematics and B.Ed and Research Programme (Ph.D.& M.Phil) in Odia, Journalism & Mass Communication, Sociology, Anthropology and Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources.The research programmes in Economics & English are going to be introduced in the next academic session.The CUO campus has come up at Sunabeda near Naval Armament Depot (NAD), adjacent to HAL.The civil construction works inside the main campus such as Guest House, Academic Block, Library Block, Temporary Canteen, earthen road, Boys’ Hostel, Girls’ Hostel buildings, have come up.The Boy’ Hostel and The Girls’ Hostel with State of the Art infrastructure having 236 rooms each will provide the best facility to the boarders in the next academic session.Presently four Centres are running in the permanent campus at Sunabeda and five centres are running in the Landiguda campus, Koraput.The University is all set to shift to the permanent campus in the next academic session.
