Truck mows down cyclist in Odisha

Odisha Channel Bureau Kendrapara, June 22: A 45-year-old cyclist was mowed down by a speeding truck near Gulnagar traffic junction on the outskirts of this district headquarters town in coastal Odisha triggering tension in the localities on Sunday.Police identified the victim as Madhabananda Behera Devangan, a native of Harianka-Balisahi village near here. The victim’s daughter who pillion rode, however, escaped with minor injuries.Behera had been to the township as his daughter was appearing teachers’ training course examination.They were returning home when the accident took place during afternoon hours.Police rushed to the spot to diffuse the tense situation.The truck was been seized while its driver fled following the accident, police said.
