Odisha Channel Bureau Dhenkanal, July 11: Following hospitalisation of 21 persons yesterday after taking injections in a health camp organised by Bhushan Steel here, the chief district medical officer (CDMO) has filed a first information report (FIR) against the Bhushan Steel authorities for holding such health camp without the permission from the district authorities. The company held a health camp at its peripheral villages Sarappa and Raghunathpur on Friday where 21 people were taken ill after taking injections in the camp.In his FIR lodged with Kantabania police station today, CDMO Sangram Kishor Das accused Bhushan Steel authorities for organising such health camps without prior permission of the district administration.“As there is a rule that for any such health camp permission should be obtained from District Collector, no permission sought by the company authorities from Dhenkanal District Collector to hold the health camp in its peripheral villages,” Das said. All the 21 persons, who were admitted to different hospitals in Angul, were safe, he said.He charged the company for not taking any permission from the district authorities to organise the health camp and asked police to take suitable action against the accompany officials.Police after receiving the FIR have started investigation into the matter. The CDMO has in the meanwhile described the health camp as illegal and violation of government directive not to conduct such camp without the permission of the concerned district authorities.“There is a specific format on which the organiser applies to collector who asks CDMO to conduct enquiry into the request for holding the camp. After the inquiry report, the permission is granted. It is all to prevent such kind of mishaps in health camps. But Bhushan authorities did not follow the order and conducted the camp in which many people were taken ill. This warranted a police complaint so we lodged,” the CDMO added.
