Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 2: The day-long nationwide bandh called by 10 trade unions to protest against changes in labour laws and privatisation of PSUs has badly affected normal life across Odisha today.The strike was successful as trade union activists squatted on rail tracks at various locations affecting train services putting thousands of passengers in trouble.Passengers were found stranded at the railway stations.Similar was the condition in the public transport sector.Passenger buses remained off the roads causing serious inconvenience to the commuters.There was also no movement of trucks engaged in transportation various goods as strike supporters blocked highways.Most of the government offices recorded thin attendance in the State as many educational institutions and courts also remained closed owing to the strike.Transport and banking operations were worst affected due to the strike.In the industrial towns of the State, the strike affected normal life badly with even business establishments and many industries remaining closed since morning hours.
