Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched an integrated State scholarship portal to help eligible students avail scholarship benefits in a seamless and transparent manner.
Patnaik informed that more than 11 lakh beneficiaries will be benefited through this unified portal – www.scholarship.odisha.gov.in.
The Chief Minister said that 21 scholarship schemes of six State government Departments – Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department, Higher Education Department, School and Mass Education Department, Labour and ESI Department, Skill Development and Technical Education Department and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department – have been brought under one platform.
Aadhaar based registration and integration with online platforms have been done to lessen duplication and ensure leakage-free scholarship disbursal, he said.
The portal is linked with State Treasury portal for automated payment directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries.
The Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department is the first Department to go live with Post Matric Scholarship Schemes to benefit 6 lakh eligible ST, SC, OBC/SEBC and EBC students.
Sumangal portal launched
Patnaik also launched Sumangal portal – www.sumangal.odisha.gov.in – developed by Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department, to grant incentive to inter-caste married couples under Odisha Right to Public Services Act, 2012. Applicants need to apply through the portal.
The Sumangal portal can help the beneficiaries of inter-caste marriage to avail the incentive amount of Rs. 2.5 lakh within 60 days.
Both the portals have been launched under the 5T initiative of the State government.
