Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: Odisha Government on Wednesday decided to devise a long term action plant for production, preservation and distribution of potato in the State.A decision was taken at a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Das Burma.
It was decided that a task force headed by Secretary of the Agriculture Department will be formed soon to devise the long term action plan within 30 days.The government took the decision in view of the potato crisis that the people of the State have been facing during the last week.Talking to journalists after the meeting, Das Burma said expressed hope that the after the task force gives its recommendations necessary measures will be taken to evade shortage of potatoes in the State in the future.The Minister said that a total of 4 lakh quintals of potato will be kept in different cold storages in the State next year to meet any crisis.
