Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 13: Noted Odia writer Prafulla Das will get the 35th edition of prestigious Sarala Award for his novel `Bahniman’, a biography of Malati Choudhury and overall literary achievements.The Sarala Award Committee announced this in a meeting held here on Friday evening.He will receive a cash award of Rs.2,50,000 (rupees two lakh fifty thousand only) along with a citation.Two more eminent personalities of the State will be honoured for valuable contribution in their respective fields.They are noted singer Shyamamani Devi and famous artist Shiva Panigrahi.They would receive a cash award of Rs.1,00,000 (rupees one lakh only) each along with citations.A special function will be held on October 26, 2014 to felicitate Das along with other awardees.Javed Akhtar, an eminent poet, lyricist and scriptwriter of India has consented to be the chief guest of the Sarala Award function.The annual Sarala Award was instituted in the year 1979 by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT).IMPaCT is the charitable wing of IMFA Group, the leading and the only fully integrated producer of ferro alloys in India.Sarala Award is recognised as the foremost literary award of our State.This award is one of the finest contributions of IMPaCT to glorify Odia literature.The Ekalabya Award also instituted by IMPaCT crowns promising sports talents of Odisha.
