Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU of Ministry of Mines, Government of India and country’s leading manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium has reported excellent results for the 2nd quarter ended September 2014.According to the reviewed financial results for the 2nd quarter of the financial year 2014-15 taken on record by the Board in the meeting held at New Delhi today, NALCO has achieved higher net profit of Rs.342 crore, as against Rs.179 crore in corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, registering an increase of 91 per cent.
Similarly, the sales turnover surged by about 14 per cent to Rs.245 crore over the comparative quarter of last year.The net profit and sales turnover for the half year ended September 2014 were also higher at Rs.613 crore and Rs.3607 crore, respectively, as against the corresponding figures of Rs.339 crore and Rs.3247 crore achieved during the first six months of the previous fiscal.On the production front, during the first half, NALCO achieved a production of 9.64 lakh tonnes of alumina hydrate, while metal production was at 1.61 lakh tonnes.
