Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: For many examinations conducted by different government bodies, the Odisha police personnel stand guard to prevent question paper leak.But the written examination for the recruitment of constables in the State Police was cancelled following the question paper leak on Sunday.The examination that was scheduled to start at 11 am at different centres across the State was cancelled after the police authorities received reports from several places that the question paper had leaked.Over 19,000 aspirants who had passed the initial efficiency test and had gathered at as many as 31 examination centres had to return unhappy after the authorities cancelled the examination.The examination was cancelled after news report from Kendrapara published in Odia daily `Prameya’ indicated that some of the objective type questions were leaked a day before the examination.The authorities found similarities with some questions that appeared in the news report and the question papers that were to be given to the candidates for the written examinations today, according to sources.Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik admitted that the question paper was leaked before the scheduled time.“The examination was cancelled after we received reports on leakage of questions papers in some districts,” he said.Chairman of the State Selection Board of Odisha Police A.M.Prasad told journalists that the Board has started the process to conduct a fresh examination for the recruitment of constables.Found caught on the wrong foot, the State police announced that its Crime Branch will investigate into the question paper leak.The decision for a Crime Branch probe was taken at a high level meeting convened by Marik after reports were received from several places about the sale of copies of the question paper along with answer sheets.
