Bhubaneswar: The focus paper for Odisha, which was released by was released at the State Credit Seminar of NABARD here on Wednesday, projected an overall credit potential for the State under priority sectors at Rs. 71,419.85 crore for the year 2018-19.
The focus paper for 2018-19 and the Area Development Scheme for 2018-2023 prepared by NABARD were unveiled by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who was the chief guest at the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik expressed satisfaction that NABARD has prepared the State potential linked credit plan that has projected the total credit demand under priority sectors for the year 2018-19 at Rs. 71,419.85 crore.
The State focus paper not only contains the potential credit demand for the next year, but also contains important information like the available and proposed infrastructure, credit gaps, ongoing schemes and demand and supply sides factors concerning all sectors and sub-sectors of rural economy, Patnaik said.
“I am sure the publications brought out by NABARD today will serve as a good reference document for the banks, the State government Departments and even the academicians,” he observed.
NABARD, at present, is implementing 51 tribal development projects and 108 watershed development projects through NGOs in the State, benefitting about 94 thousand families, Patnaik mentioned.
For making agriculture resilient to climate change, NABARD is implementing a Green Climate Fund project in 15 vulnerable and backward districts, and has also initiated massive water campaign, he added.
Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Principal Secretary of the State Government’s Finance Department Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chief General Manager of NABARD K.C. Panigrahi and many other officials from various banks were present on the occasion.
