Visakhapatnam: The Adani Group’s ambitious data park project, which had faced clouds of uncertainty after YSR Congress Party formed the government, has been revived.

Sources told Odisha Channel that the project will come up by downsizing the investment.

During erstwhile Telugu Desam Party Government, the proposal was cleared in a record 36 days after signing the MoU.

Then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had laid stone in February, 2019, just before the general elections, by allotting 175 acres at Kapulappada, out of 500 acres promised to Adani Group for the Rs.70,000-crore project.

The Adani Group had envisaged establishing a data centre and technology park by producing 5,000 MW solar power over a period of 20 years.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the meeting of State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), reviewed proposals on mega projects in the State at the Camp office at Tadepalli near Vijayawada on Tuesday evening. The Adani Group’s revised proposal figures at the meeting.

The CM said priority should be given to setting up of pollution-free green industries in Vishakapatnam.

The officials informed that Intelligent SEZ Ltd (Footwear Manufacturing) is planning to invest Rs. 700 crore in two phases, at Inagaluru in Srikalahasti mandal of Chittoor district to employ 10,000 people.

ATC AP Pvt Ltd (Off- Highway Tires) company has promised an investment of Rs.980 crore at Achuthapuram SEZ near here and generate jobs to 2,000 people.

The proposal of Adani Enterprises Limited regarding setting up of Integrated Data Centre Park, Integrated IT and Business Park, Recreation Centre, along with proposals to set up a Skill University at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam was also discussed, a release issued by the CM’s office stated.

The company will invest Rs.14,634 crore and employ a total of 24,990 people.
The officials explained the subsidies sought by the companies and the assistance expected from the government and the employment opportunities available through these companies.

Ministers Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Gummanur Jayaram, Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, Industries Special Chief Secretary Karikal Valaven, Director of Industries and Commerce J. Subramaniam and several senior officials attended.
