Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Trust for the first time handled a 38-meter beam and 229 20-meter length vessel MT Oslo.

The ship piloted by Capt. Vijay Prakash and Capt. R.C Sama, anchored here to discharge South African steam coal on account of Sharda Metals & Alloys 27,029 tonne and Sharda Energy & Minerals 60,500 tonne totalling to 87,529 tonne at EQ-7 berth.

VPT used to handle 325-meter beam vessels only till date. Now, due to simulation study in October, 2019 held in Singapore, VPT improved its handling capacity of bigger size vessels up to 45-meter beam into the Inner Harbour.

K. Rama Mohana Rao, Chairman, VPT, expressed his happiness and commended all those concerned in berthing the vessel at EQ-7. He hoped that in future VPT will continue to make efforts in handling bigger size vessels into the Inner Harbour.
