Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday expressed confidence that Odisha will overcome the COVID-19 pandemic situation soon with its courage and resilience.
In his address after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day here, Patnaik expressed his gratitude towards COVID warriors for their selfless service and commended them for ensuring a low fatality and high recovery rate in the state with their hard work.
No COVID-19 patient in the State will be deprived of treatment due to lack of money as the government has taken concrete steps to provide all facilities free of cost, said Patnaik.
The Chief Minister said that the State government has set up dedicated COVID hospitals in different areas region and plasma therapy has been made available to the patients.
Patnaik also said that his government has taken adequate steps to boost economic activities amid the ongoing crisis. Poor people and workers are being provided with assistance, he added.
He highlighted the fact that Odisha has become the No. 1 State in India in terms of investment with proposals worth around ₹ 12,000 crore received during the past few months. The State has attracted 18% of the total investments made during this period in the country, he said.
Meanwhile, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 57,000 mark with 2,496 new cases and the death toll mounted to 333.
The Independence Day was celebrated in districts, blocks and panchayats across the State in strict adherence to social distancing and other safety norms.
