Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 21: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the flood situation as water level kept rising steadily in several rivers in the State on Monday due to incessant rains during the past few days.According to an official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Anandapur area of Keonjhar district along with the districts of Jajpur and Bhadrak were likely to be affected by floods in Baitarani river.The District Collectors have been asked to remain alert and Water Resources Department has been directed to engage mobile patrolling teams to keep a watch on the vulnerable points of different river embankments.The Chief Minister has directed the Departments concerned to evacuate people from low lying areas to safer places and make arrangements to provide them with cooked food.The Departments of Urban Development, Rural Development and Health & Family Welfare have been asked by the Chief Minister to ensure availability of potable drinking water in the affected areas to prevent spread of water borne diseases.The meeting was informed about storage of food materials in the interior pockets of the low lying areas and ODRAF and NDRF teams have been deployed in the areas that were likely to be hit by flood.
