Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: It was only after reports of land grabbing poured in from all parts of the State that the Odisha Cabinet on Saturday gave its nod for promulgation of an ordinance to curb this growing menace.The ordinance will be promulgated as the State Assembly is not in session, Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati told journalists after the Cabinet meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.A series of cases of land grabbing has come to light in the recent months in and around Bhubaneswar and other parts of the State.The ordinance, which will be issued under Article 213 of the Constitution, will provide for criminal prosecution of land grabbers which could lead to imprisonment of up to seven years, Pati said.
