Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: Even as the Meteorological Department had predicted change in Odisha in a day or two, the State government has extended the summer vacation for schools and colleges till June 23.Official sources said on Monday that the State Special Relief Commissioner has issued instructions for extension of the summer vacation in view of the heat wave condition prevailing in the State due to delay in the arrival of monsoon.All education institutions, that were due to reopen after summer vacation on dates such as June 17, June 18 and June 23, will now reopen on June 24, according to sources.Most parts of Odisha were still sweltering under severe heat wave condition and high humidity with temperature crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark at places.Though sky was overcast in some regions, there was no sign of rain so far.
