Odisha Channel Bureau Paradip, July 18: In the latest sea-bath tragedy, three contract labourers engaged in Paradip oil refinery project drowned as they were swept away by mighty waves of Paradip Sea.The tragic mishap took place near Jatadhari marine police station beach when the victims were taking bath in sea waters.The bloated bodies of the victims were later spotted on the beach.Onlookers watched helplessly as mighty sea waves swept them away.The local seagoing fishermen tried their best to rescue them.But it was in vain.“Two of deceased persons have been identified as Mohammad Abid (30) and Pankaj Singh (22).The body of the other victim is yet to be identified.Bodies have been sent for post-mortem.A case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection,” said Inspector of Jatadhari river mouth marine police station Manoranjan Choudhury.The pristine sea beach in Paradip has turned unsafe for humans with spurt in drowning cases.As tourists throw caution into winds and take bath in unsteady seawaters, their plunge is turning fatal, police said.The popular beach has virtually turned into a watery graveyard for tourists for various reasons.And prominent among them is increase in the roughness of the sea close to the Paradip coastline in the recent months.
