Odisha Channel Bureau Kendrapara, Aug 10: Tainted self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba, who is now in Crime Branch of Odisha police custody after his arrest amid widespread protests against him, tried his hand in Odia film and album industry, according to Crime Branch officials.The Crime Branch investigators said the godman’s fraudulent possession of land, and money collected in the name of a charitable trust was also detected during the course of today’s probe.In Kendrapara, where the godman operated, he owned at least two residential plots at posh localities, while he was found to have purchased land near the ashram against Satyam Charitable Trust.His aides were grilled today as clues point towards the fact that plots bought by the Baba were registered in the name his select band of close aides.The godman invested in at least one Odia movie.His alleged nefarious link with Odia film stars are also being looked into, said reliable sources. His suspected link with the ponzy farms involved in the multi-crore chit fund scam, are also being probed.However, no tangible proof is yet to emerge, added Crime Branch investigators.The alleged romantic exploits of the Baba is also being brought under the scanner.“We are going to grill at least five women who used to stay at the Ashram guest house frequently,” a Crime Branch official said.
