Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: In its recent meeting held on November 11 at its head office in Mumbai, NABARD has sanctioned projects worth Rs.179.19 crore to Government of Odisha under RIDF Tranche XX [2014-15].With this, the total amount sanctioned to Government of Odisha during the year by NABARD has gone upto Rs.1202.93 crore under RIDF Tranche XX for creation of infrastructure in various sectors such as irrigation, rural connectivity (roads & bridges), fisheries, animal husbandry etc.This present sanction includes funding for 15 rural road projects involving assistance of Rs.78.45 crore.The projects envisage to develop/create additional road length of 92.96 km in the state, according to an official release.Further, 11 irrigation and flood protection projects involving assistance of Rs.77.24 crore, 171 lift irrigation projects (tube well & river lift) under Biju Krushak Vikas Yojana (BKVY) involving assistance of Rs.23.23 crore has been sanctioned.These irrigation projects envisage to create/stabilize/develop an irrigation potential of 30529 ha & under BKVY 3724 ha will be brought under assured irrigation.To create infrastructure in fisheries sector in the State, NABARD has sanctioned 2 fish landing centre projects.RIDF assistance of Rs.27.84 lakh has been sanctioned to provide fish landing facility in Salia and Sorada Reservoir in Ganjam district.Cumulatively since inception of RIDF, NABARD has sanctioned Rs.10546 crore to the Government of Odisha for implementing more than 1.92 lakh projects under various sectors such as irrigation, rural connectivity, animal husbandry infrastructure development, jetties/passenger waiting halls for inland waterway transport and rural drinking water supply system etc.
