Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: The 11th Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav jointly organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha and Orissa Dance Academy kicked off at the foothills of Dhauli on the outskirts of the city this evening.The festival contains cultural multiplicity and a whole range of diverse stream of performing arts, be it classical, folk or martial.The penultimate objective is to preserve, promote and popularize the heritage at the national and international level.The festival started with first presentation Bibhiddha Varna comprising of Naga Nata, Prahalada Natak, Gotipua dance, Bajasal, Mayurbhanj Chhau, Sambalpuri dance and Ghanta Mridanga representing folk culture of different region of Odisha.The second item of the evening was Kathak dance by Aditi Mangaldas from Drishtikon Dance Foundation, New Delhi.Her first item was Guruve Namah, a personal tribute to one’s Guru.The dance was choreographed by Aditi Magaldas; concept was by Rachana Yadav and music composition by Samiullah Khan.Her concluded item was Infinite Journey which means the journey from beginning of the universe to now.The manifest unites with the un-manifest and nothingness reveals its everythingness.The concept, choreography and costumes were by Aditi Mangaldas and music composition was by Shubha Mudgal.The last presentation of the evening was Kamsale, the martial folk art of Karnataka which was exciting and ruminating for the audience.The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Odisha Governor S.C.Jamir, State Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Secretary of Tourism and Culture Arvind Padhee, Director of Tourism A.K.Tarenia, and Director Tourism and Secretary of Orissa Dance Academy Guru Aruna Mohanty.
