Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 22: IIT Bhubaneswar celebrated its 8th Institute Day in the auditorium at Samantapuri Campus here today.Gokul Chandra Pati, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha graced the occasion as the chief Guest.In his address, Pati advised the students to be always attentive and not to be complacent. He emphasized the importance of technology in the present context and the change in its paradigm with time and called upon the students to ensure its implementation for the benefit of the larger section of the society.He also cautioned on the flip effect of technology on development and the environment.Pati also opined that both the State Government of Odisha and Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar should jointly work on bringing about the various technological interventions and deployment of innovative solution for the benefit of the poorest of the poor. The Chief Secretary congratulated the Institute for effecting smoothly the first phase of shifting of its activities to the permanent campus at Arugul, and assured the continued support of the State Government to help the Institute in achieving greater heights.R.V.Raja Kumar, Director of the Institute expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the students, faculty and staff of the Institute to Pati for his continuous support and guidance to the Institute and helping it to move forward to achieve its goals.In his address, Raja Kumar informed the strong commitment of the Institute for un-parallel academic excellence and increased research and development activity and contributions to the nation in general and the State in particular.He assured the Chief Secretary the Institute would provide excellent technological and academic support in all the endeavour of the State Govt.He congratulated all the students, faculty and staff members on the occasion.The inauguration was followed by Santoor performance by Tarun Bhattacharya supported by Prasanjit Podar organised with the support of SPIC MACAY, Bhubaneswar Chapter, and eastern dance and light music performance by students of IIT Bhubaneswar.
